Demand department of Defense (DoD) tactical vehicle will (rantis) independent domestic production for the needs of Indonesian National Army (TNI) in the line of duty, Learning from the experience of its embargo of spare parts in our defense equipment overseas production by the state, to be used Indonesian National Army (TNI) in performing internal security, and to remove the dependence on weapons systems from the outside.
In order to self-reliance in the provision of RPP made in Indonesia, as well as the development of human resources in Ranpur Equipment Design Build Army (Combat Vehicle), the umbrella organization under the auspices of the Department of Defense and the University of Indonesia through the Directorate of Equipment Workshop Equipment Center TNI-AD (Bengpuspal AD) in Bandung, creating prototypes RPP (Ranpur Personnel Carrier).


RPP with chassis and axle of Armoured Land Rover and steel body which is the result of collaboration between the Department of Defence Research and Development, Faculty of Engineering, UI and business process design with Bengpuspal submitted to TNI-AD and was completed in 2003.
